Overview

As a member of the Central Accounting Office, the Centralized Staff Accountant will work collaboratively with other members of the finance team and will have primary responsibility for preparing monthly financial statements for various operating entities of HEI Hotels & Resorts. Supports multiple hotel operations and administrative departments in a wide range of accounting and financial reporting and analytical activities. The position is accountable for processing Accounts Payable and understanding the procurement system and will assist with processing the Daily Income Journal and provide additional accounting support as needed. In addition, the Centralized Staff Accountant will prepare certain account reconciliations on a monthly basis.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the month-end close and monthly financial statements for a portfolio of operating entities, including the corresponding review and analysis.
  • Acts as a financial resource on a consistent basis, collaborating with management company executives, property accounting and Central Accounting teams in discovering creative solutions to improve overall business processes and performance.                                    
  • Responsible for assisting with AP, AR, and Income Journal as well as other accounting functions as assigned; brings any accounting issues to the attention of senior staff.
  • Works collaboratively with property and corporate management staff on all finance and accounting related matters.
  • Trains hotel staff on daily, monthly, and quarterly processes.                                                        
  • Trains and supports the Accounts Payable Clerks and Staff Accountants.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years accounting/finance experience. Hospitality, real estate or service-industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and GAAP concepts.
  • Proven ability to work with complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems.
  • Performs work in a well-organized, self-directed manner with ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks, work both independently and in a team environment, and grasp concepts quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and detail oriented with ability to think critically.
  • Ability to partner with individuals at all levels of an organization to get tasks accomplished.
