Overview

The Task Force Director of Human Resources will direct and ensure the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function at all assigned hotels with a primary focus on Hotel Transitions. The Director will facilitate efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function in newly acquired and divesting properties. This will include recruiting, training, compliance with statutory requirements and the execution of associates relations activities, in order to provide Transitions Hotels with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their guest service and business objectives. In addition to Hotel Transitions, the Task Force Director of HR will be responsible for Task Force support to cover vacancies and onboard new HR professionals. This position will be 100% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the pre-activities of hotel investment to include arranging interviews with current management team, offer letters, arranging events information, coordinating materials, coordinating benefits presentation and coordinating HR training schedule.
  • Coordinates the post activities of hotel divestments to include execution of divestment spreadsheet, inventory of outgoing HR/Payroll storage, coordination of interviews and transfer of associates where necessary.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and administration of all Human Resource functions, including recruitment, training and development, payroll (where applicable) and associate relations activities, relating to all hotel personnel.
  • Facilitates the effective recruiting and interviewing using methods such as verbal presentations and written directions to ensure the hiring and retention of qualified and efficient associates. Conducts interviews for all management positions and makes hiring recommendations.
  • Ensures that Human Resources associates are developed within HEI standards and programs and are utilized to their maximum potential by controlling the implementation, administration and monitoring of all training programs. In the event the Human Resources position is open at the time of transition, the Director of Human Resources may occupy the property role until a permanent placement is found and has been adequately trained in his/her role.
  • Assists with developing, implementing and administering policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel to ensure the maintenance of a positive and productive employment environment.
  • Oversees onboarding and training of payroll activities on newly acquired properties to include time system training for all managers.
  • Ensures compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations which pertain to Human Resources by reviewing current management practices, implementing new procedures and communicating verbally and in writing any new requirements. Assists with oversees compliance with Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Provides assistance, guidance and counseling to the Human Resources Associates and management staff in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the hotel staff by listening and interpreting concerns and objectives and seeking solutions.
  • Coordinates managing all labor relations activities by administering union contracts and ensuring compliance. Responds to all grievances in writing, negotiates settlements and acts as the hotel representative at all arbitrations.
  • Oversees pre-selection activities, including drug testing; reference checks, etc., to ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures. Ensures all new hires and existing associates possess proper employment eligibility verifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, or related field, highly preferred.
  • Previous hotel experience required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Human Resources experience preferably in Hospitality or similar industry.
  • Ability to organizes processes around all applicants and associates, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
  • Ability to perform moderately complex calculations for salary and benefit administration and to forecast departmental expenses.
  • Ability to observe associates in the work place, analyze operations and detect situations of concern with regard to areas such as associate performance, grooming, training, policy adherence and morale.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
  • Ability to stand up to 4 hours and lift up to 25lbs.
  • Travel required up to 100% of the time.
